Introduction
Cool, creamy, and nostalgic, these Classic Root Beer Floats are an easy treat made with frosty root beer and scoops of rich vanilla ice cream. The combination of fizzy soda and creamy ice cream creates the perfect sweet drink for summer parties, family gatherings, or an old-fashioned dessert night.
Ingredients
4 cups chilled root beer
4–6 scoops vanilla ice cream
Whipped cream, optional
Maraschino cherries, optional
Ice cream sprinkles, optional
Instructions
Prepare the Glasses
Chill two tall glasses or mason jars for about 10–15 minutes before serving.
Add the Ice Cream
Place 2–3 scoops of vanilla ice cream into each glass.
Pour in the Root Beer
Slowly pour the chilled root beer over the ice cream. Pour gradually to prevent the foam from overflowing.
Finish and Serve
Add whipped cream and a maraschino cherry if desired. Serve immediately with a straw and spoon.
Recipe Tips
Use very cold root beer for the best float.
Pour the soda slowly because the ice cream creates a lot of foam.
For an extra-creamy float, add an additional scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Serve immediately while the ice cream is still firm and the soda is fizzy.
